Mírame mis ojos (Melesio Morales)

In the beginning of 1866, Melesio Morales, the maximum exponent of belcanto and romanticism in Mexico, travelled to Europe. It was during this period away from Mexico, in Florence, when he received the tragic news of the death of his 3 years old daughter, Enriqueta. Morales, deeply moved, wrote this reflexive adagio of great expressiveness, considered one of the most touching works of the Mexican piano literature. The title: the last words that young Enriqueta uttered before she died.
